1. Consult: what you'll do
Tell us what you've noticed (a leak, missing shingles, an older roof) and what you're hoping for. Have any records handy: when the roof was last replaced, earlier repairs, photos of leaks with dates. If the home is a townhouse or in an HOA, mention it now. If you know whether you're inside the Town of Herndon limits or in the surrounding Fairfax County area, mention that too; if not, we'll help you check.
2. Design: what you'll do
We turn the inspection into a material plan and a written scope of work. Read it closely. Ask about anything that isn't clear, especially how decking damage found after tear-off is handled and which flashing is being replaced. This is also when permit responsibility and HOA or historic district approvals get sorted out.
3. Select: what you'll do
Pick the shingle line and color, and decide on any window replacements. If your HOA or the Town's Historic District Review Board needs to approve materials, this is when you submit, and it's worth doing before anything is ordered. Ask to see color samples in daylight against your siding and trim.
4. Build: what you'll do
Make room in the driveway for materials and the dumpster, move cars and anything fragile near the house, and let neighbors know, which matters most in townhouse rows where roofs connect. Expect noise during tear-off. Exterior work depends on weather, so the schedule can shift with conditions; we'll keep you informed.
5. Complete: what you'll do
Walk the property with us, look at the finished roof from the ground, and raise anything that needs attention. Keep the scope, the product information and any permit paperwork together with your home records. You'll want them when you sell or if you ever need warranty help.
